Batten Reserve - Images by Matthew Syres A while back I was asked to photograph Batten Reserve - a small parcel of remnant forest in Lane Cove that is under threat due to development.  It's home to 19 bird species including at least one Powerful Owl (Ninox strenua), currently listed as Vulnerable under the NSW Threatened Species Act.  Conservation group Birds Australia produced a detailed survey of the area, and a statement of the issue that you can view here.  The photographs are to form part of a video presentation, I'll be posting about that when it's online.  In the meantime enjoy the images or view the entire gallery here.
